Memorial for Elizabeth M. Crow – Sat. 9/25 at 10:30 a.m. at FCC

Elizabeth M. Crow, 98, formerly of Terrace Estates, 1231 Eisner Avenue, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2010 after a short stay at Harbor House, 2611 Indiana Avenue.

Elizabeth was born August 26, 1911 in Superior, WI to Irwin and Martha (Rau) Martin.  She was a graduate of North Division High School in Milwaukee, Class of 1929 and received her B.A. Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1933.  She began her career at Beaver Dam Elementary School.

On June 18, 1938 Elizabeth and Ralph H. Crow were united in marriage in her parent’s home in Milwaukee.  Elizabeth was a homemaker until her children were older after which she was employed at Beloit College as the Recorder.  In 1990 the couple moved to Sheboygan to be close to family.

While living in Beloit, Elizabeth was a member of the First Congregational Church and after moving to Sheboygan was a member of First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. She was a member of P.E.O. chapter in Beloit and Sheboygan.  She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was spending time with her family.  Many wonderful times were spent at the family cottage near Brule, WI.

Elizabeth is survived by three children, Alice (Lee) Seidel of Durham NH, Thomas (Nancy) Crow of Fort Collins, CO, and David (Arlene) Crow of Sheboygan; five grandchildren, Natalie (Bob) Becker of Riverside, CA, Wade (Coral) Crow of Washington D.C., Ellen (Alan) Vodicka of Rhinelander, WI,  Mary Crow of LaCrosse, WI, and Eric Seidel of New York City, NY; one great-granddaughter, Ruby Becker of Riverside, CA; two brothers, Charles Martin of East Troy, WI and Donald (Marie) Martin of Xenia, OH; one brother-in-law, Charles Schumacher of Janesville, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Howard Crow, her sister, Martha Lou Schumacher and her sister-in-law, Barbara Martin.

… A memorial fund has been established in her name for First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Sheboygan.

Elizabeth’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to staff at Harbor House, St. Nicholas Hospice, and a special thanks to St. Nicholas Hospice R.N. Angie Wilke for her care and support for the past year.

Elizabeth will always be remembered for her grace, her intelligence, her love of nature, and her wry sense of humor coupled with a twinkle in her eye.
