Sunday School at FCC

We are a NURTURING community, committed to the Christian education and loving development of children and youth.

Nursery Care: for infants and 1-yr-olds is offered during worship in the infant nursery (Room 7). Trained teen nursery workers rotate duties with assistance from parents.

Sunday School: runs September through May, followed by a Summer Kids Program.  During the school year, children typically attend the 10 AM worship with families and then leave for class following a “Time with Children.” Sunday school classes are held from 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM. High school youth are encouraged to serve as assistant teachers. A weekly offering is collected during church school classes. Offering envelopes are available for each child.

Church School Supports Reading Garden in Malawi: The weekly offering will support the Lilongwe Reading Garden - a project to grow literacy in Malawi. We encourage the children to bring an offering each week to their Sunday school classes.

Curriculum: We are glad to be using the “Seasons of the Spirit” curriculum in our Sunday School program. It explores the meaning and mystery of the Bible; nurtures the imaginative spirit; offers resources for all ages; and integrates the worship, learning, and serving ministries of the church.

Acolyte Program: 4th and 5th graders serve as acolytes, lighting the altar candles, for Sunday morning worship.

Children’s Music: Each Sunday during the school year, the Sunday school classes have time for singing/music. The Sunday School choir sings in worship regularly, led by Ann Berchem.

Middle & High Youth Classes: Wednesday Night Program for 7th & 8th graders takes place each 1st & 3rd Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 PM in the Youth Room.  Students learn about our “Ancestors: Unlikely People – Extraordinary Stories.” Dinner is from 5:30-600 PM. Cindy Bartol will coordinate and teach for the 2018/2019 school year. Learn more about our high school classes here.

Safe Sanctuaries: We are a "Safe Sanctuaries" church. One of our goals is to provide a safe environment for the children and youth who are entrusted to our care as they participate in our programs and use our facilities. We have adopted a policy and procedure to provide a safe environment - copies of which are available in the church office.
