Our FCC Staff Team
pastors Jim and Julia Hollister
Jim and Julia Hollister serve as Pastors and Teachers at FCC. They joined our congregation in Dec. 1994. Jim attended Colgate University and Union Theological Seminary in New York City (M.Div.). Julia attended St. Olaf College and received her M. Div. from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA.
Jim and Julia share worship leadership, pastoral care and education responsibilities at FCC. Jim focuses on Trustees (Building & Grounds and Personnel & Finance) as well as Worship/Arts board — when he is not riding his bicycle or meditating. Julia focuses on fellowship, mission and children/youth programming - when she’s not walking the dog or working in the yard!
Jim currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Wisconsin Conference UCC. Julia serves on the Board of Directors of Fresh Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan County. Both enjoy their involvement with the Refugee Support Community Sheboygan.
They have two children - Jon (age 21) and Jessica (age 18) and a Corgi named Kiki.
Director of Music: Carra-lyn conger
Carra-Lyn Conger has been Director of Music since 2017. In addition to her role as director of the church choir and handbell choir, she is a music educator at Farnsworth Middle School in Sheboygan.
organist: bill born
Bill Born is currently in his 11th year as organist and choir accompanist at FCC. Bill is a retired choir director from the Sheboygan Falls School District. In addition to his church position, he accompanies many students for music festivals, recitals, auditions and sings with the Lakeshore Chorale. Bill and his wife Jean live in Sheboygan Falls. They have a son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Ashley, and a daughter Brianna.
Sunday School Coordinator: Roxanne Akstulewicz
Roxanne Akstulewicz coordinates volunteer teachers and youth helpers for Sunday School classes (nursery through Middle School ) including teacher support and classroom supplies. Roxanne also serves as part-time volunteer coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sheboygan.
Children’s Music Coordinator: Ann Berchem
Ann Berchem has been a youth music teacher at FCC since 2011. She has taught vocal, choral, general music, and musical theater to elementary and middle school students in public education for over twenty years. She has served as a state honor choir coach, adjudicator, and choral clinician. Ann currently teaches elementary vocal/general music at Wilson Elementary in the Sheboygan Area School District. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her son Caleb and husband Todd, biking, running, gardening, and performing locally.
Office Manager & Secretary: Suzy Meves
Suzy Meves is the Office Manager at FCC and has held this position for 22 years. She completed 4 years of Lay Academy and has a BA from Lakeland University with a major in Elementary Education.
Accountant: Char Liddicoat
Charlotte is a CPA and has enjoyed doing the accounting for First Congregational Church for the past thirteen years. Other activities she enjoys include gardening, learning Spanish, spending time with her little sister in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program, and working part time during tax season.
capital campaign secretary: Kathleen Donovan
Kathleen Donovan serves as the Capital Campaign Follow Up Secretary. She and her husband John have been FCC members since October 2014. When not working at church she is an office manager for Luedtke Electric.
Custodian: Jim Richter
Jim Richter is our Custodian. He has served in this role since 2003. He and his wife, Lynn, have three sons and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jim enjoys muskie fishing in Northern Wisconsin during the summer months.
Housekeeper: Cindy McNamara
Cindy lives with adult daughter Sheena and her rescue furbabies, Bella the Bug (dog) and Jack Frostytoes (cat). She is a Medical Assistant/phlebotomist at BioLife Plasma services and also volunteers at Sheboygan Theater Company.
Journeys coordinator + Pilgrim preschool assistant Teacher: cindy bartol
Cindy has been married to her husband Larry for 19 years. They have two children - Sara and Sophie. She has a degree in secondary education, but loves to learn with younger children! She also has experience at the children's museum and teaching Sunday School.
Pilgrim Preschool Director + lead Teacher: Debbie Barbuch
Deb has been director and lead teacher of Pilgrim Preschool since 1996. She holds a Childhood Diploma from Lakeshore Technical College and a Child Development Associate Certificate. Together with her co-teacher Cindy Bartol, she believes that play is a child’s most important work, and strives to create and maintain an environment where children can grow, learn and thrive while exploring the world around them.
