Renewing Our Mission

We began our RENEWING OUR MISSION – Inside and Out Campaign in 2016. We are thankful to all of our members and friends who have supported First Congregational Church UCC in this way.

Here is an update from our 2017 Annual Report:

At the end of 2017, we had pledges of $972,140.43. We received $226,273.73 in donations in 2017 for a total of $522,964.65.

The heating system is virtually completed with the addition of a 2nd hot water boiler in 2017 and digital controls throughout the building.

Air conditioning units have been replaced in the office area and Conference Room and we added A/C to the Infant Nursery!

Selected thermopane windows have been replaced in Lucas Hall, and we are looking at the south side windows for upgrades in 2018.

Other building upgrades being considered for 2018 include construction of a ramp to the chancel area of the sanctuary to allow “barrier-free access” and improvements on audio-video system in sanctuary.

We paid the 2nd year of a 3-year pledge ($20,000/yr) to UCCI (Church Camps) for their “Campital” Campaign. The work on the cabins at Moon Beach is coming in the home stretch. Both “Badger” and “Chickadee” cabins are on line and “Seymour” should be up and running soon. Pilgrim Center has started work on Fayville and should have it ready for groups by March 2018.

We paid the 1st year of a 3-yr pledge ($10,000/yr) to Lakeland Univ. for “Reinhard Ulrich Center for Philosophy, Ethics & Christian Thought” to be housed in the Esch Library on campus. Lakeland amended their strategy to lift up the memory of Reinhard Ulrich and his values. Council reviewed new plans and felt this new strategy was true to the original intent. Funds will support “Ulrich Scholars” – up to 10 per year to be enrolled and supported through grants and work opportunities.
